How blessed I am by Sister Joan Chittister's words about prayer: "Prayer enables us to be immersed in what is fundamentally and truly divine in life right now. It is not meant to be a bridge to somewhere else because God is not somewhere else. God is here."

Right now I am immersed in how bright the yellow leaves are even on this cloudy morning while the coffee perks. The spiritual power of "being immersed" in whatever we are doing changes our hours and days. It is a different way to live--not always comfortable, but deeply centering and fulfilling.
