Nine Robins

Nine robins just arrived in our spindly street tree, facing the wind. They have not gathered like this all winter but now it is snowier.

The robins take and eat the bright red berries left over from last season's ripening. Their puffed out rufous chest feathers tremble with each gust, yet they are steady, calm, and purposeful.

The snowfall nudges us humans to rethink what we will do today. Nine robins are here to remind us to consider what our deepest intentions are, and how to refrain from using resources until the time comes when we need them most.
