Asian Is Not a Virus

"I am not a virus"

said Representative Ted Lieu.

"We learn time and again that words have consequences"

said President Joe Biden. "Our Asian and Pacific Islander neighbors have been attacked, blamed, scapegoated, harassed, and killed. For all the good that laws can do, we have to change our hearts. I am horrified by the killings in Atlanta. We must do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly, as human beings and as Americans."

"I can't speak for the investigation at this time,"

said Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance-Bottoms, "but I can tell you this:
It looks like a hate crime to me. As we know, women are targeted for hate crimes, too."

"In most states, it's easier to buy a gun than to vote"

said The Washington Post.

"We have been given permission to hate and to do violence"

said columnist-prophet Eugene Robinson. "It's frightening and disturbing."

"Racism is real in America--and always has been. Sexism, too"

said Vice President Kamala Harris. "A harm against any one of us is a harm against every one of us. We must recognize that there is no 'them,' that we are all us."
