We do not know who wrote the Letter to the Ephesians, but clearly he or she had a powerful way of talking about how we grow, throughout our lifetimes, into the love of Christ. The verses below have stirred my mind and heart ever since I first began to read scripture in early adolescence. Today these words, so ancient and venerable, are as fresh for me as the morning breeze:

"We must no longer be children, tossed to and fro and blown about by every wind of doctrine, by people's trickery, by their craftiness in deceitful scheming. But speaking the truth in love, we grow up in every way into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and knit together as every part does its special work, grows and builds itself up in love."
