Thankful

Thankfulness can create an opening, no matter what is happening in our lives.
Expressing thanks—to other people, to God, or even to ourselves—gives us a moment to breathe and deepens our awareness. It lifts our spirits and connects us with our bodies.

Even when we are scared or grieving, we can pause and look for something to be thankful about. Not because we must rush to balance things out. Not because God wants us to hurry past our tears or pretend we are never afraid.

God would much rather love us as we really are—and this is one of the gifts for which I am most thankful.

Thankfulness centers us, creating a calm place within, where clarity and inspiration arise more easily than ever. Here in this particular stretch of days, in our myriad circumstances and in our shared humanity, may we know the healing power of being thankful.
