All in One Day

Golden light begins to appear on the horizon. How gently it gathers in this morning’s soft blue sky. Trees come into view, turning from black to green, their leaves a silhouette of lace.

As light arrives here, it recedes on the other side of the earth. Every day, people around the world are blessed by this light. We receive it and let it go, receive it and let it go, as if we knew very well how to share, how to be blessed and then send a blessing onward, all in one day, day after day, even to strangers far away whose faces and stories we do not know.

I am rising. Someone across the world is falling asleep. Perhaps we are breathing in the same rhythm just now. Perhaps we are both praying for peace.
