"I love calendars. Tomorrow, to kick off 2023, I'll hang four on various walls. Four chances to turn the page and make a clean start.
"This is hogwash, of course. There is no way to erase my misgivings and missteps from 2022. Though I like to think some magical balm will take them away at the stroke of midnight, December 31, they will likely remain on January 1.
"And I've realized: That's okay. I don't want to start the year with perfection in mind. I want to give myself permission to carry the good, the bad AND the ugly into 2023.
"This seems like less pressure. This seems like an honest way to live.
"I hope you'll join me in messiness in 2023."
