Christmas Begins

At Christmas, God steals into this world humbly, vulnerably,

a child for whom there is no room,

yet who comes to make room for us all.

As we are moved by this child,

may we become brave enough to love everyone.

As we run to greet this child,

may we likewise hurry to care

for the beautiful, luminous earth.

As we reach to embrace this child,

may we also turn toward ourselves

with the deepest respect and tenderness,

and begin to know how faithfully and unflinchingly we are loved.

Glory to God in the highest heavens,

and on earth, peace, good will among all.
