Contemporary theologian Matthew Fox puts it this way: "Salvation is about healing, and just as the cosmos itself can be ruptured and torn apart by injustice, so too it can be healed by all human efforts to bring justice, which is balance, back to human relationships to earth, air, fire, water, and one another."
Fox wrote this thirty years ago, in his 1983 book, Original Blessing. We didn't know yet that we would be called to save our planet from accelerating climate change. It is a daunting call, and one that can only be answered together.
Do justice, love kindness, walk humbly with God. May these simple words from the prophet Micah bring us wisdom and joy in our healing work.
