A New Habitat

In June of 1946, in an interview with the New York Times, Albert Einstein said, "Many persons have inquired concerning a recent message of mine that 'a new type of thinking is essential if mankind is to survive and move to higher levels.' Often in evolutionary processes a species must adapt to new conditions in order to survive. Today the atomic bomb has altered profoundly the nature of the world as we knew it, and the human race consequently finds itself in a new habitat to which it must adapt its thinking."

Many people are lifting their voices to signal new ways of thinking--about war, about greed, about the climate crisis, and about how we can find our way into healing. By speaking up like this, we create a new habitat, one where all of us have more room to choose actions that foster a peaceful, caring life together.

It is sacred to multiply our voices in witness to how peace and healing can flourish. It is akin to what Jesus keeps doing in the gospels: multiplying the loaves until the whole crowd is fed.
