Behold

At the corner of Goodman and Highland,
a tree that has taught me for many autumns
has its red-orange crown on this morning, full of sun.

With every leaf, it announces:
Behold!
Consider the movements of light,
the bright grass still reaching skyward,
the currents of warm and cool air on your skin.
Marvel at the voices within and around,
even more so when strange words or tones arise.

Newness is near.
Remember to laugh.
